Remedial massage is a gentle physical treatment which combines deep tissue massage with stretches and mobilisation techniques to reduce pain and to improve flexibility and movement. Sports Therapy gives deeper understanding of the physical processes, the assessment and treatment of your condition, and effective rehabilitation back to your activity and state of wellbeing.
What conditions can be treated? These combined skills produce an effective treatment for many musculo-skeletal problems. Both acute injuries and longer term conditions that have become chronic will benefit. These can vary from low back pain, sciatica, shoulder and neck stiffness, to muscle and joint injuries or stiff and painful joint conditions. It is very beneficial to sports and non-sports conditions, repetitive strain injuries and general aches and pains caused by the stresses of everyday living. What does treatment involve? First we will ask you some questions about your condition, followed by an examination of the area. Once an assessment has been made, we can develop a unique treatment plan just for you. Treatment comprises hands on massage techniques, followed by stretching and mobilisations. You may be given exercises to support your body's natural healing process, to prepare you body for resuming your usual activities, to prevent injury from recurring and to improve your overall state of wellbeing. How long will I need treatment? Treatment plans are unique to you. Some conditions require numerous treatments over a short space of time, while others may benefit from regular sessions over a longer period. However, some people can feel complete relief of symptoms after just one or two sessions. Who will treat me?
