The Approach

In many ways the approach is similar to a visit to your GP, except you will leave a great deal more time to talk and you will leave with natural medicine. Herbalists treat people not diseases, where possible the aim is to understand what is wrong and treat the underlying cause of your problem.

Treatment

Treatment is individually tailored to meet the needs and capabilities of each person. There is a strong emphasis on improving overall health. The herbalist encourages positive attitudes to nutrition, lifestyle and self-care, as well as prescribing herbs to ease symtoms.

Herbal Prescriptions

Medicinal plants when used appropriately and with skill benefit the entire system. The herbal prescriptions promote and restore health through supporting and nourishing the bodies normal healing response - often without unpleasent side effects.

First Appiontment

The first appiontment is used to talk about what is currently wrong, to find out what other factors may be contributing to ill health, and to explore the general state of health past and present.

The herbalist will also need to know about any medication or supplements you are using.

Occasionally, a physical examination, such as taking blood pressure or listening to the chest, may be necessary.

Follow up Appiontments

Follow up appiontments typically occur at four week intervals to monitor progress. This allows the treatment to remain dynamic and resposive to changing needs over time.
